We have been advocating for WordPress many times on this blog. Still, it cannot be said enough: WordPress is best, especially for businesses. If you are a startup or a novice, take a look at these key reasons for using WordPress. They bear repeating.
It’s free.
However, free does not mean cheap.
WordPress is a free to use CMS system that can be installed on any website. WPBeginner states it this way:
“WordPress is an open source software. It is free in the sense of freedom not in the sense of free beer. You may ask what is the difference between these two? Open Source software comes with freedom for you to use, modify, build upon, and redistribute the software in any way you like.”
What’s that, you say? You will find a variety of technical definitions surrounding WordPress themes. WordPress.org defines it this way:
“A WordPress Theme is a collection of files that work together to produce a graphical interface with an underlying unifying design for a weblog. These files are called template files. A Theme modifies the way the site is displayed, without modifying the underlying software.”
In other words, a WordPress theme is a group of coding, functions, and styles that you can install onto your website. Installing a theme lets you use this functionality and style through the WordPress CMS interface, plugins, and page builders. You have all this without touching a bit of code.
WordPress is the foundation of your website. You can see it as a toolkit to build your site.
Understanding WordPress Themes
We believe that WordPress themes are one of the best ever developments for SMEs for building a website. The best WordPress themes contain literally tens of thousands of dollars of developer work, and they are either free, or premium themes are priced between $50 to $250.
The value to your business is priceless. Themes like Avada and Divi contain thousands of hours of work from skilled developers and designers.
Out of the box, these premium Themes can be used to build just about anything.
They come with built in easy to use page builders, are fully responsive, bundled with amazing plugins, contain infinite styling and customization options and tons of easy to install demos.
WordPress is intuitive and easy to use. It might seem a little difficult at first, because it’s not pretty looking like Shopify or others. WordPress doesn’t sink its dollars into marketing with photos of business owners running their shops from a beach in the Caribbean. However, once you get beyond the initially sparsely designed interface, you’ll realise that WordPress is incredibly easy to use.
You can access and edit basically everything you would need to from the WordPress CMS, and if you find something you can’t, there’s generally a plugin you can install that will help you.
