WordPress 5.0 has just released its new block-based editor, which they have named after the Cuban jazz musician, Bebo Valdes. Developers expect this block-based editor to provide a smoother, streamlined editing experience. The Bebo editor enhances the insertion of media content and makes it easier to rearrange any type of content. In WordPress Bebo, each element of content is its own block, which allows you to play around with the layout of content more quickly and easily.

WordPress Bebo for Better Editing Experience

These are some significant upgrades to the WordPress editor. It’s a first step towards an improved editing experience across your entire site. It promises more flexibility for displaying content, whether you are revamping your blog, building your first site, or write code professionally.

Building with Blocks

The new block-based Bebo editor doesn’t change the appearance of your content; however, it will let you insert any type of multimedia quickly and then rearrange as you see fit. Each element of content is a contained block, a distinct wrapper for smooth maneuvering. If you prefer CSS or HTML, the blocks should not inhibit you. Bebo simplifies the process rather than altering the outcome.

This improved editing experience will give you more consistency in design in addition to content. If you are building sites for clients, you can opt for reusable blocks. This lets your clients add new content while maintaining the consistent look and feel of their site.

WordPress Releases Twenty Nineteen Along With WordPress Bebo

WordPress has also released its new theme: Twenty Nineteen to complement the new Bebo editor. Twenty Nineteen offers custom styles for the blocks by default in 5.0. In addition, it makes wide use of various editor styles throughout the new theme. This way, what you see and create in the content editor is just what your visitor will see on the front end.

Streamlined, Type-Driven Layout

Twenty Nineteen offers modern sans-serif headlines, classic serif body text, and amply whitespace. In fact, Twenty Nineteen is built to provide a stunning appearance combined with increased loading speeds by using system fonts.

Versatile Design for Any Site

Twenty Nineteen is designed to work for a wide variety of use cases. Whether you’re running a photo blog, launching a new business, or supporting a non-profit, Twenty Nineteen is flexible enough to fit your needs.

Protection From Inadvertent Code Edits

Blocks provide an easy way for you to change content directly, while ensuring the content structure cannot be easily disturbed by accidental code edits. This allows you to control the output, building polished and semantic markup that is preserved through edits, which are not easily broken.

Compose

You can use the wide array of APIs and interface components to easily create blocks with intuitive controls. Using these components not only speeds up development work but also offers a more usable, consistent, and accessible interface to all users.

Create

This new block archetype stokes the imagination when it comes to resolving user needs. The unified block insertion flow enables your clients to find and use all types of content. As a developer, you can focus on executing your vision and offering rich editing experiences instead of hassles with difficult APIs.

Classic Editor Still Available

WordPress will continue to provide support for the Classic Editor plugin through 2021. The Classic Editor plugin restores the previous WordPress editor and the Edit Post screen. It lets you keep using plugins that extend it, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor.

If you use any type of assistive technology, we recommend that you stay with the Classic Editor for now to avoid any usability issues.
